Benchmarks
Test cases are a useful way to enable cross-comparisons between different parameterisations, optimisers and flow analysis methods. The following test cases have been proposed at SIG meetings, although the final list is to be confirmed.
- Previously used ducts and vehicle cases
- Low-Re Joukowksy aerofoil optimisation - this is a simple test case, with an easy parameterisation, and for low Re converges quickly for convenient analysis
- Busemann biplane - this is topological problem (minimise wave drag for fixed volume and length) that has an analytical solution
- Spitzer profile - this is a problem based on minimising wave drag for fixed volume and object length. This is a simple test case, with an easy parameterisation, and for low Re converges quickly for convenient analysis
